Karen Mirabito-Cowan, CPA Director

Karen Mirabito-Cowan is a Director in Grassi’s Nonprofit practice and has 35 years of experience advising a wide range of nonprofit organizations, from social service programs with federal and state funding to public access television and other membership organizations.

Karen is responsible for providing a full range of services, including planning and conducting Single Audits, financial statement audits, reviews and compilations for nonprofit and commercial organizations. Karen also provides nonprofit tax compliance services to prepare federal and state information returns. In addition, Karen has extensive experience providing CFO services and QuickBooks consulting to nonprofit and commercial organizations. Karen’s responsibilities also include training and developing staff associates and mentoring staff on engagements.

Before joining Grassi, Karen worked at Anstiss & Co. for 24 years, where she became a Director. She led audits, reviews and compilations and provided tax work and consulting services to her clients.

Annually, Karen attends the AICPA Not-for-Profit Industry Conference in Washington, D.C., and other training programs that provide the required training to perform Single Audits. She is the treasurer of the Dracut Garden Club and the former treasurer of the Lowell Art Association, further enhancing her experience in all aspects of nonprofit organizations.

Karen is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Massachusetts Society of Certified Public Accountants (MassCPAs). She has been a licensed CPA since 2001.

Karen graduated from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh.
