Brendan McCarthy is an Audit Partner at Grassi with 15 years of accounting experience specializing in audit and assurance services. Brendan is an expert in SEC-related audits for public and pre-IPO companies across the technology, biotechnology, manufacturing and distribution and financial services/insurance industries.

At Grassi, Brendan leads audit engagements and provides strategic guidance to clients navigating complex compliance, regulatory and business challenges. His diverse client portfolio spans Fortune 500 multinationals to pre-revenue startups, with a focus on mid-market public and privately held businesses.

Before joining Grassi, Brendan held positions at Marcum LLP, CLA, and Deloitte & Touche LLP. During his time with those firms, he managed audit and outsourced accounting teams, concentrating on SEC issuers and rapidly growing privately held companies across various industries.

Brendan is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CTCPA). He also serves on the AICPA/NAIC Task Force, demonstrating his dedication to advancing the accounting profession. Brendan is also a member of the Connecticut River Valley Chamber of Commerce and serves as a board member for the Governor’s Prevention Partnership.

Brendan is a licensed CPA and a Certified Cryptocurrency Auditor (CCA) by the Blockchain Council, an exclusively developed and curated certification focusing on the core concepts of auditing blockchain-based cryptocurrencies.

Brendan earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in accounting from the University of Connecticut.
