Brendan McCarthy, CPA, is an Audit Partner at Grassi with 15 years of accounting experience specializing in audit and assurance services. Brendan is an expert in SEC-related audits for public and pre-IPO companies across the Technology, Biotechnology, Manufacturing & Distribution, and Financial Services/Insurance industries.

At Grassi, Brendan leads audit engagements and provides strategic guidance to clients navigating complex compliance, regulatory, and business challenges. His diverse client portfolio ranges from Fortune 500 multinationals to pre-revenue startups, focusing on mid-market public and privately held businesses.

Before joining Grassi, Brendan held positions at Marcum LLP, CLA, and Deloitte & Touche LLP. During his time with those firms, he managed audit and outsourced accounting teams, concentrating on SEC issuers and rapidly growing privately held companies across various industries.

A committed professional, Brendan is an active member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the Connecticut Society of Certified Public Accountants (CTCPA). He also serves on the AICPA/NAIC Task Force, demonstrating his dedication to advancing the accounting profession.

Brendan’s community involvement includes serving as a board member and Finance & Audit Committee Chairman for the Governor’s Prevention Partnership.

Brendan has been a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) since 2012 and earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science in Accounting from the University of Connecticut.
