Christopher Carrella is a Tax Partner in Grassi’s Financial Services practice with more than a decade of experience serving private equity funds, hedge funds, venture capital firms, fund-of-funds, management companies and emerging managers. He is a trusted advisor to investment management clients, providing practical tax guidance and strategic solutions across a wide range of complex tax matters.
Chris works closely with fund managers, General Partners and family offices on tax compliance, planning, consulting and structuring matters. He has extensive experience advising alternative investment structures and helping clients navigate operational, reporting and growth-related challenges. He also collaborates with fund administrators, auditors, attorneys and financial advisors to support clients throughout all stages of the investment lifecycle.
Before joining Grassi, Chris was a Director in the Financial Services and Private Client Tax practice at OLarry, where he advised private equity funds, hedge funds, venture capital firms, management companies and high-net-worth individuals on tax compliance and consulting matters. Prior to that, Chris spent more than a decade at EisnerAmper LLP and Big 4 accounting firms, where he provided tax compliance, planning and consulting services to investment management clients and complex fund structures within the financial services industry.
Within Grassi, Chris is actively involved in mentoring and developing junior staff and supporting the continued growth of the firm’s Financial Services practice. He regularly participates in industry webinars, panel discussions and networking events focused on developments impacting the alternative investment industry.
Chris also serves on the board of Dans Plan Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness for suicide prevention and addiction education through fundraising and community initiatives.
Chris is a licensed CPA in New York and Florida and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYCPA), the Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants (FICPA), the Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) and The Financial Executives Networking Group (The FENG).
He earned both his Master of Business Administration and Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting from Adelphi University.
