James (Jim) Ferrone is a Director at Grassi. He brings over 30 years of experience in public accounting to the firm, specializing in providing audit, compilation, review, tax planning and management advisory services. He primarily serves nonprofit organizations and family-owned businesses in the manufacturing and professional services industries. Jim’s areas of expertise also include the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA) and Yellow Book/nonprofit auditing.

Jim was a Director at Gramkow, Carnevale, Seifert, & Co., LLC (GCS) for five years before the firm’s merger with Grassi. He is a licensed  CPA in New Jersey and New York and a licensed Public School Accountant (PSA) in New Jersey.

Jim is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA), New York State Society of CPAs (NYCPA) and the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA). He was previously President of the Essex County Chapter of the NJCPA and has served on several of its committees. Jim has been asked to speak and write on nonprofit and ERISA issues and to attend seminars and workshops in ERISA and OMB Uniform Guidance (formerly A-133) nonprofit auditing. Additionally, Jim serves as the Treasurer of the Northern New Jersey Council – Scouting America.

Jim earned his Bachelor of Science in accounting from St. Thomas Aquinas College and has taken additional studies through Upstream Academy.
