Marc Leili, CPA Director

Marc Leili is an Audit Director at Grassi. He has over 16 years of experience working with public and private clients primarily in the Manufacturing & Distribution, Construction and Architecture & Engineering industries ranging from startup tech companies to Global Fortune 500 Corporations. Marc specializes in assisting public companies with SEC reporting requirements and both public and private companies with accounting standard compliance, including business combinations (ASC 805), stock-based compensation (ASC 718), revenue recognition (ASC 606), leasing (ASC 842), derivatives and hedging (ASC 815), and various structured debt and equity financings (ASC 480). He has extensive experience in internal control best practices, such as control rationalization, material weakness remediation and initial SOX 404 implementation.

Prior to joining Grassi, Marc worked at a Big Four accounting firm where he was responsible for leading multiple teams, ranging from 10 to more than 50 professionals, across various engagements. He assisted clients through various complex transactions and milestones in their life cycles, including guiding a client through a SPAC merger and the subsequent SEC reporting requirements. Marc also assisted in the firm’s audit transformation efforts including the adoption of delivery center models, use of analytics and emerging technology, and process overhauls. Specifically, Marc was also involved in the firm’s audit innovation team that vetted new technology proof of concepts, managed the technology upgrade pipeline, spearheaded the design and implementation of controls over existing technology and drove technology adoption across the firm.

Marc is passionate about the professional development and advancement of up-and-coming accounting professionals. He shares his insights with others as a CPE instructor, industry presenter and mentor. He has taught training courses on a wide range of accounting topics and regulatory updates, always keeping his team, colleagues and clients informed of relevant changes and best practices.

Marc is a certified public accountant in the state of New Jersey and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA). He previously served as a former Assistant Treasurer of Rutgers Business School Alumni Association Board of Trustees.

Marc earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Rutgers Business School and his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mathematics from Rutgers University.
