Matthew Talia is a Tax Principal in Grassi’s Financial Services practice with over a decade of experience advising clients across the investment management industry. He works with a broad range of financial services organizations, from first-time emerging managers to established fund operators overseeing complex investment structures. Matthew also advises high-net-worth individuals and privately held businesses, including partnerships and S-Corporations.
Matthew’s depth of experience spans hedge funds, private equity, venture capital, fund-of-funds (FOFs), management companies, General Partner (GP) entities, and registered investment advisors (RIAs). As a trusted advisor on complex tax matters, Matthew helps his clients navigate fund structuring, allocation strategies, K-1 reporting, multi-state compliance, fund launches, operational considerations, exit strategies, and more.
Prior to joining Grassi, Matthew served as a Director in the Financial Services Tax practice at Anchin, where he advised funds and individual clients on a variety of tax planning and compliance matters. Before Anchin, he spent nearly nine years at EisnerAmper, advancing from intern to Senior Manager while building deep technical expertise in financial services taxation.
In addition to serving clients, Matthew mentors and trains junior team members within the Financial Services practice, sharing technical knowledge and practical insights to support their professional growth. He is also a recognized thought leader within the industry and has authored a variety of articles sharing his insights on issues affecting fund managers, investors and advisory firms.
Matthew is a licensed CPA in New York State. He received his degree in accounting and business management and finance from Brooklyn College.
